The girls’ bowling team won the New Year High School Championship for the second year in a row led by captains Olivia Ostrander and Sam Irwin

For the past two years the Girls Bowling Team has reigned undefeated. This year is no different.

While they may have lost not only three of their own key players last year but also all the partnered girls from the Warren County Technical School, (who are now a major competitor.) Even with all these losses, they continue to triumph and make a name for themselves.

Coach David Garcia had this to say about the success of the team:

“Expectations were tempered coming into the season as we lost three starters from last year,” he said.  “However, not only have returning members improved  their game, but other members have stepped up to fill the vacancies. I believe the key to success has been the ability to not only stay positive, but also come together as a team and be there for each other.”

While Ron Heft (co-coach) has only been with the team for a short amount of time, he said  that he can confirm that the team works very hard for their success and have formed almost a family bond.

“They build each other up, work hard, and play with a burning passion that allows them to win as a team each time they step up onto the lane,” he said.

Co-Captain Oliva Ostrander agreed.

“Because we lost key parts of the team last year, we all knew we needed to step up,” she said.  “Everyone has improved tremendously over the past year. We have big shoes to fill and we are doing a great job. I believe we are doing well because this team is dedicated to bowling and we have worked very hard to get to where we are. When one person is down, the team picks them right back up.”
