Shelia Bazelais, Staff Reporter
Shelia R. Bazelais, a Warren Hills sophomore who was born April 27, 2007, plans to earn a college degree in Communications and pursue many different writing careers, such as technical writer, reporter, editor, journalist, author, and copywriter. Ever since the sixth grade, Bazelais has shown a vast interest in writing and reading. She participated in SLAM (Student Literary and Art Magazine) her freshman year and plans to continue during the rest of her high school career. She plays tennis for the Warren Hills Tennis Team, and during her freshman year she participated in the Warren Hills Winter Track Team. She also spends her time working with the community, like volunteering at Washington’s own 31 Threads thrift shop, where all the money goes to the food pantry, which is right next door. She also participates in Big Brothers and Big Sisters, a program guided toward mentoring young people. She was born in Long Island, N.Y., and moved to New Jersey around the age of 3. She lived in Hunterdon County and moved to Warren County around the end of fifth grade. Her two sisters, Ashley and Shania, are 19 and 23. Her parents are Scherley and Reginald Bazelais. Both her parents were born and raised in Haiti. When they moved to America, they both met in high school. They have been married for 23 years. Ever since the sixth grade, Shelia Bazelais has shown a vast interest in writing and reading.
