On November 14, 2024 the Warren Hills Streak Nation club held their third annual volleyball tournament. Many students and sports teams compete for the first place title.
This year there were 14 teams who participated in the tournament. There were two awards given that evening, one for the Winning team and the “Best Dressed” award.
Each team had one goal in mind: winning. To make this event run smoothly there are a few things that need to be done like: confirm referees, reserve the gym, and the most important step is to advertise the event.
14 teams competed, the team that won the Best Dressed award was given to Team Allie: Jake Valverde, Tyler O’Neill, Brady Mckenna ,Alex Acevedo, James McDonald, Alex Clemente and coached by Joseph Ozeriansky and Warren Hills alumni Rich McDonald
“Winning best dressed means a lot to me, it’s more than just winning best dressed, we are proud to represent my family restaurant” said Valverde
“ I don’t thnk of it just like that. I am repersenting Childhood Cancer and my beloved sister Allie”
Each team played hard to win the tournament but the team who came out on top to win the 2024 fall volleyball tournament was “Gabi’s Fairies”.
“Gabi’s Fairies” consisted of seniors Brock Duerring, Dylan Duerring, James Hummel, Jack Fourneir, John Korczukowski, Gabi Miller and was coached by Jacob Hopkins and DJ Schaefer.
Hopkins and Schaefer were impressed with how the team bonded together and how they dominated.
“Me and hop ran that up” said coach Schaefer
The name and costume was decided amongst the group. Brock Duerring made the tie die shirts and Gabi Miller brought the wings for the team to look like princess fairies.
“Being first place this year felt rewarding to us all” said Miller
It was their mission to be the best and they showed it that night.
“Winning this year was awesome and I was so happy with our team and the dedication they brought on the court” said Brock Duerring “ I couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to play with and winning was so well deserved after the hard work we put in”
Not only were the teams excited and had a blast that night but advisor Heather Wight was thrilled with the energy that competitors brought.
“I love the fun competitive nature of this event! Kids go pretty hard to win each game. As long as it’s a fun competition. It makes it so much fun to watch!” said Wight “I also love seeing the team’s outfits. Some teams come up with creative outfits”.
The student body loves this event and the atmosphere it brings. Did you miss this awesome event? Now you can do it- Streak Nation has another one planned for the spring!
