SLAM Club Continues Creating
The Horizons Student Literary and Art Magazine (SLAM) Club meets weekly to focus on writing and to work on the Horizons SLAM Magazine. Participants believe that it is important to focus on the power that writing holds, and they use poems and short stories to find “a voice and place” in the world, according to Faculty Advisor Margaret Devine. SLAM writers say that hearing things from different people’s points of view empowers writing and helps “honor all voices.” “Words are transformative and have the power to change realities for many who sometimes may feel marginalized or invisible,” Devine said.
