The Streak

Alan Freeman will be playing Division Three Basketball at Montclair State University in 2020. Freeman will miss the community support the most. “I’ll miss having the whole town coming to the games,” he said,  “and being well known in the community for bringing everyone together.”

Angela Riedinger is running Division One Cross Country and Track and Field at Rider University in 2020. Riedenger said that she chose Rider because she has “loved it there ever since my sister decided to attend this school when she was a senior in high school. The atmosphere is great and very welcoming.”

Julia Webber will be playing Division Three Field Hockey at Rowan University in 2020. “My older brother Jake has inspired me,” she said. “He has always been great at what he does and what he tries, so Ive always wanted to make him proud like he makes me proud.”

Jake Smith will be playing Division Three Football and Baseball at McDaniel College. “I wanted to go somewhere far away where people didnt know me for my family,” he said,  “where I could make a name for myself.”

Julie Ruskan will be running Division One Cross Country and Track and Field at Rider University in 2020. Ruskan is looking forward to making memories with her team. “Im super excited to run in college,” she said. “Im looking forward to seeing what goals I can reach by the end of my college career, to make memories with my team, to push and challenge myself and to travel to different places for our meets.  Ill go to Disney for our championship my sophomore year, and we will travel to a bunch of different tracks in places like Boston and Virginia.”

Justin Coombs will be playing Division Three Football at Misericordia University in 2020. Coombs said that his biggest accomplishment in high school “has been getting accepted into and committing to college.”

Kate Fenner will be playing Division One Field Hockey at Fairfield University in 2020. Fenner said she is grateful to those who inspired her in her sport. “I would say many people have inspired me,” she said, “but mostly my travel coaches because they all played at the next level and inspired me to also compete at a collegiate level.”

Ryan Monahan will be playing Division Three Football at Delaware Valley University in 2020. Monahan said he found his niche in football at middle school age.  “I started playing football for the Panthers when I was in seventh grade,” he said. “I had been a soccer player up until then and at the time, the middle school did not have a soccer team, so I went to rec football and I havent looked back since.”

Samantha Dugan graduated in January of her senior year and is playing Division One Field Hockey at Quinnipiac University. Dugan said she is especially looking forward to the 2020  fall season. “I graduated early and started playing on the team in January and was so excited to do so,” she said.  “Because of the pandemic, our spring season ended early, so I am really looking forward to our games this fall and for road trips with the team.”
