Farce of Habit Sure to Reel Em’ Inn
What does a fishing lodge, a caffeine addiction, an undercover police assignment, a gaggle of nuns, and an axe murderer all have in common? Warren Hills’ fall play of course!
This November 16th, 17th and 18th, the Warren Hills Drama Club will present Farce of Habit, a Southern-fried romp that takes place in the Ozark Mountains in Arkansas. At the Reel Em’ Inn, all D. Gene Wilburn wants is his peaceful weekend at the lake, but the odds of him getting what he wants is slim to none.
While on this lake trip, Wanelle Wilburn, Gene’s wife, decides she is going to battle her ongoing caffeine addiction, to which she is met with hilarious struggle. Not to mention, the Wilburn’s son Ty’s marriage to Jenna Sealy Wilburn is falling apart very quickly, which may or may not have anything to do with the French can-can costume Ty is wearing.
In addition to the Wilburn family drama, Gene’s sister, Maxie Wilburn Suggs, is caught up in an undercover police assignment, and that isn’t even scratching the surface.
As if Gene’s weekend wasn’t already ruined, the Reel Em’ Inn is filled with nuns who are unrelenting in their endeavor to enjoy a nature retreat. This would not have been a problem if Gene didn’t have a deep-rooted fear of anything in habit.
Adding to the chaos, in comes Jock McNair, a nationally acclaimed relationship guru whose ginormous ego threatens the Wilburn’s sanity, a shy retiree who is nervous to embrace his inner caveman, and a herd of wild women, who may or may not be who they claim to be.
All Gene wants is to bait the hook, but as the storm of the century looms over the Reel Em’ Inn, Gene has no hope of enjoying his peaceful weekend.
And the icing to top? There’s an axe murderer on the loose!
