The Warren Hills Boys Varsity Basketball team has been taking the court by storm into the 2025 season. This team has been playing with each other ever since they were little in their club basketball team, which is why they feel they have been able to maintain such good chemistry on the court. The seniors include Jacob Hopkins, James Hummel, Joseph Ozeriansky, James Pence, Dean Schaefer and Daniel (Danny) Willis.
“The team chemistry is great because of how long we have been friends and because of everything we do off the court together,” said senior Captain James Hummel.
This season, the team has set some goals for themselves that will reflect their dedication and hard work. The boys can all agree on one thing: winning the Hunterdon Warren Sussex Championship. Each player’s personal development is also a priority. These goals are not just about winning games, but also about building a cohesive team.
“The main goal for the team is to win the Hunterdon Warren Sussex Championship, which is our county tournament,” said varsity Head Coach Mr. Joe Bamford.
“We can achieve this goal by winning a lot of games and coming into work everyday just like it is our practice before the championship.”
Preparing for a big game in any sport takes up a lot of mental capacity. All players have different strategies to get their heads in the game. Whether it be tuning everything and everyone out, listening to some fun music, or warming up.
“Coach Bamford usually makes us a game plan so I look over that before every game,” said junior Captain Michael Dufner.
“Also, I usually listen to music and I like shooting around to get warmed up.”
This season is especially meaningful for the seniors on the team, as it is their last year playing basketball for the Blue Streaks. Every game counts and the memories made will be remembered.
“My favorite memory this year so far was giving Voorhees their first loss of the season,” said senior Captain Daniel (Danny) Willis.
“It was such an intense game and the feeling of all of us celebrating with our win is something that I’ll remember.”
As the season continues to progress, the boys will continue to demonstrate their determination and accomplish their goals at hand.
