This 2023-2024 school year, Warren Hills Regional High School welcomed multiple new teachers, one of them being Choral Director Salvatore Montero, a 2019 graduate of Warren Hills.
Before joining Warren Hills’ faculty, Montero graduated from William Paterson University in Wayne, about 20 miles from New York City. While in college he toured Italy with the William Paterson Chamber Choir.
After college he became an avid operatic/choral performer and continues to do that today.
During the summer of 2023, Montero attended the Prague Summer Nights Young Artist Program. He performed Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Don Giovanni and Le Nozze di Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro) in the Estates Theatre.
“The huge amount of outstanding role models that I’ve had as teachers have inspired me to eventually become an educator myself,” Montero said.
One of Montero’s biggest role models is Warren Hills’ former Choral Director Lauren Voight, who retired last year after 36 years of teaching. She was a huge inspiration to Montero and was able to bring his stress level down during stressful times, he said.
While a Warren Hills student, Montero took Advanced Concert Choir all four years, receiving a perfect score of 100 during each year.
He spends his free time skateboarding. In the winter he enjoys snowboarding.
