The Warren Hills Student Council Executive Board has been chosen by the students, and the results are in.
Senior Bailey Van Orman was voted Student Council president and senior Tyrik Iman-Washington as vice president.
“I’ve loved my work in Student Council the past two years, and I’m so happy with the impact,” Van Orman said. “I love to listen to other people, see multiple perspectives, and I want to make everyone feel welcome and comfortable in our school community.”
Van Orman is also editor in chief of the school newspaper, The Streak, and captain of the Debate Team.
Tyrik Iman- Washington is involved with Streak Nation, Best Buddies, Drama Club and other organizations.
“I want to make the school more inclusive,” Iman-Washington said. “I want clubs to work together and keep a positive environment for all students.”
The new Warren Hills treasurer is senior Stephanie Salameh. Her role is to maintain an organized budget for Student Council funds. She is tasked with keeping a record of finances, including money spent and received, and making deposits in the council bank account.
The appointed secretary, junior Meredith Dufner, says she is “well-rounded, ambitious, and thoughtful.” She plans to “help the school raise money for this year’s New Jersey Athletic Club state charity for childhood cancer, collaborate with other clubs and promote mental health awareness.”
Dufner was also a freshman representative and a part of the Student Council for her entire high school career.
Also, Historian Faith Oranye said, “I hope to help bridge the gap between student and faculty and any situations that may arise.” Oranye, a senior, is also the editor in chief of the yearbook at Warren Hills.
Board of Education Liaison Bailey Asbury is president of the Sexuality and Gender Alliance and the editor in chief of the Student Literary and Art Magazine.
“I plan to ensure that all students are heard and respected at Warren Hills,” said Asbury, a senior. “I want to be able to attest to the integrity and maturity of the Warren Hills community by making consistent, positive change through the Board of Education.”
Overall, the Student Council Executive Board seems to have a group of positive and hard-working individuals who plan to make a positive impact on Warren Hills.
