Roses Go on Sale for Valentine’s Day

The Warren Hills Floral Design class teamed up with members of the FFA to sell roses for Valentine’s Day the week of Feb. 9. The students started with roses on Monday, but the preparation for the sale started well before. Floral Design is a half-year course that teaches students the art of arranging flowers. The FFA organized the sale with the second-semester Floral Design class, who had to organize the advertising, sales, and actual flower arrangements. “It’s a great experience for the students,” said FFA Director and Floral Design Teacher Patricia Smith. “Floral design is a half-year course, so the students just started. They had to jump right in with both feet and get started on a promotion with a sale. They’ve been working on marketing and they decided how many flowers to order, what they were going to do to sell them, and how much they were going to sell them for. It was a great experience for them.” (Photo by Stephanie Dunlap)
