Seniors Strut in Halloween Parade

The annual Halloween party, costume contest, and parade brought the senior class together for their last October at Hills. Each group or single costume had a moment on stage to announce their look for the judges and pose for pictures. The entire school then got out of class for a few minutes last block to watch the procession of Halloween ensembles. After the parade, the seniors came back for the judges’ final decision. Ivan Podobed was crowned as Best Overall Male Costume for his rendition of a ”Zoltar Speaks” boardwalk fortune teller, complete with painted cardboard booth, crystal ball, and mystic garb. “I love attention, so getting all that positive attention is great,” said Podobed, “even though I was kind of expecting it.” Sarah Hale was awarded Best Overall Female Costume for her Claire Standish (Molly Ringwald) look from the Breakfast Club, based on her striking likeness to the 80s actress. Both winners received a free prom ticket. Other smaller prizes, such as Warren Hills spirit wear, were given out to category winners like “Most Controversial,” “Most School Spirited,” and “Best Couples Costume.” (Photo Courtesy of Richard Patricia)
