In late May, Student Council hosted their annual Mr. Warren Hills talent show, a competition between male seniors who competed to be the fairest of them all.

The eight boys to compete were seniors Carson DeAngelis, James Falzarano, Noah White, Jeremy Slaven, Austin Berger, Patrick Bifano, Colin Corde and Darrell Corleto.

Each competed in the talent, formalwear and most patriotic categories, while being ranked by a panel of judges, which included English teachers Heather Wight and Penny Giamoni, Spanish teacher Lolita Trifoletti, Math teacher Marshall Cuomo and junior Cody Jackson.

Up first was the talent portion of Mr. Warren Hills, starting with Berger whose talent was folding a paper seven times, which he said was allegedly impossible.

Slaven and Bifano were second, having a dad joke battle as their talent.  If the opponent laughed at a joke, they got a point.  The person with the most points lost. The outcome of the battle was a tie.

Next was Falzarano, who showed off his weight lifting skills while Berger served as his coach/hype man.

The next talent was from Corleto, who paid homage to Evil Knievel by doing some stunt work.  He rode around the stage on a drift bike to the song “Wrecking Ball,” by Miley Cyrus.  And for his finale, he sent himself flying through a colored block wall.

Corde was up next, he performed the famous dance from the 2004 movie Napoleon Dynamite, “Vote for Pedro,” shirt and all.

The second to last display of talent was from DeAngelis, who played the piano.  While adorning a pair of purple sunglasses, he showcased his knack for playing the keys.

The final talent was from White. His talent closed out the first round of Mr. Warren Hills.  His talent was eating a sandwich.

The next category was most patriotic.  The audience experienced a wide array of what each contestant thought was their most patriotic get-up.  From American Flag attire to red white and blue tutus, to Irish Flags, each contestant showcased what patriotism meant to them through their wardrobe.

“My favorite outfit –and I am a fashionista –would have to be Darrell,” said Judge Giamoni.

After the comments from the judges, an elimination of five contestants took place.  The five eliminated were Slaven, BiFano, Corde, White and Berger.

After the elimination, the formalwear round began in which each of the three remaining contestants dressed to impress the judges.

The contestants then were asked questions as a part of the question and answer round.

The first question was to Falzarano: “Do you want to ever get married or are you already married?”

“Now I hate to let any of you down, but I’m already taken,” said Falzarano pointing to senior Audrey Elliot, who escorted him out earlier in the night.

The next question was for DeAngelis.  He was asked, “What makes you cry and when was the last time you cried?”

“Food that is too hot,” replied DeAngelis. “Just today I was microwaving a Hot Pocket, two minutes standard, and I was well aware that you’re supposed to wait a minute, but I was very hungry. I just cried my way through it.”

The final question was to Corleto, “What is your favorite song, and can you sing a portion of it for us?”

“Really no, but yeah, “I Get the Bag” by Migos, I don’t know the words, but I look like Quavo,” answered Corleto

After the questions were answered, the final person was eliminated.  After a long moment of suspense, it was announced that DeAngelis was not moving forward in the competition.  From the audience arose a chant of his name in protest of his elimination.

Falzarano and Corleto were the final two and faced the judge’s final remarks.

Judge Cuomo congratulated both contestants as they entered the final round.

“Darrell,I thought you had mad skills,” he said. “James, I’m not much of a fashion guy, but you’re the only one with a shirt that pops.”

After their final deliberation, it was announced that Corleto had been crowned Mr. Warren Hills of 2018.

“I just want to say, I’ve been doing this for quite a few years,” said Judge Trifoletti, “and, in my opinion, this has been the most interesting and funniest one of all. Thank you so much.”
