With Junior Prom coming up on April 27, the students are selecting dresses, making arrangements, and yes, Promposing.

This year, the Junior Class Executive Committee put a new spin on the event by sponsoring a Promposal Contest on Twitter.  The event lasted from February 12 to February 26, and concluded with an audience-selected winner.

The couple with the best promposal received two free prom tickets for their memorable night at the Camden Aquarium.

To determine the winners, there were various open polls on the Junior Prom Twitter page, so that the Warren Hills community could have a say in the decision.

Notable promposals included juniors Cody Jackson and Brian Quigley, who promposed to sophomores Emma Kaiven and Vanessa Falzarano, respectively.  The promposal included a skit based off of the upcoming school musical How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, which they all have a part in.

Speaking of the arts, junior Vy Trann asked her friend, junior Cindy Nguyen, with a musical promposal on her cello.

Junior Daria Wimmer also included her musical talent on the recorder when she asked sophomore Ivan Podobed to prom.

With fireworks that exploded in the background, junior Andrea Egerer  promposed to senior Noah White.  The American Flag-themed sign she held in front of her said, “On a scale of one to America, how free are you for PROM?”

Also lighting up the scene, junior Griffin Howey’s promposal outlined sophomore Julie Ruskan’s driveway with candles.  In the center of the driveway he spelled out “PROM” in candles and placed a radio next to it playing a special song.

In a fun promposal where junior Christopher Ostir asked junior Alyssa Mendoza-Siersma to prom, he included Junior Prom’s theme and got her a fish.  The sign read, “I’m hooked on you, so I’m o-fish-ingly asking you to prom!”

Also in a creative way, Principal Christopher Kavcak, created a promposal for his wife, Kimberly.  In this promposal he created a heart-shaped puzzle she had to put together.  Once the puzzle was solved, it asked her to both senior and junior proms.

The winner of the contest was junior Paola Benevides.  Her promposal to senior Athony Leggio included a scavenger hunt with clues that had to do with their relationship. His last clue took him to his decorated room where Benavides promposed.

Benevides said she used the internet for inspiration.

“I looked up a lot of different ideas online and at first I wanted to do something big,” she said.  “I wanted something for him to laugh about and he did.”
