Mekhi John, a junior at Warren Hills, is a new recruit for The Streak newspaper. This is his first year enrolling in Journalism. 

Outside of school, John is usually at ShopRite, where he works in the front end. He says that he plans to have at least $2,000 saved up around Black Friday, when he says he will “splurge” on commodities and clothing. He enjoys his job and likes to interact with his coworkers and customers. John also likes to play games and hang out with friends whenever possible. He finds that being surrounded by positive energy is a big motivator for him when it comes to work and school. 

John really loves English Language Arts. It has been his favorite subject since he started school. His former ELA teacher, Stephanie Jacobs, inspired him to write a horror series that totals over 300-plus pages. It has been a while since he last worked on it, but he wants to get back into the groove soon. John gathered inspiration from a lot of sources, including a game series called Call of Duty: Black Ops and a horror game called Dying Light. Both include zombies or monsters of the like, which are the main antagonists in his series. If you couldn’t already tell, John loves horror movies and books with a passion. Anything horror related will have his attention.
